The IOE - Faculty of Education and Society Survey work across education, culture, psychology and social science to create lasting and evolving change

The 'Practice around Access Arrangements for Students with Specific Learning Difficulties' (PAASS) study is a new, exciting research project that has received funding from the Nuffield Foundation to better understand how secondary students are supported to prepare for their exams.
Dr. Emma Sumner and Dr. Catherine Antalek, a team of researchers at the UCL Institute of Education and would like to invite you to get involved in their project.

What is the purpose of the study?

Government statistics show a large discrepancy between the proportion of secondary students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and those without SpLD achieving a Grade 4 and above in GCSE English. Given the challenges that students with SpLD experience in writing, we are interested in furthering our understanding of how support with exams is put in place. The study aims to explore access arrangements typically employed for students with SpLD. We are interested in understanding school policies/practices surrounding the provision of access arrangements.

Why am I being invited to take part?

You have been invited to participate as you have been identified as a key stakeholder involved in working with children with SpLD in your professional role. We are aiming to recruit up to 100 SENCos in secondary school. The knowledge we gain from your responses will help us understand the exam provision for children with SpLD.
