Helpline volunteer training: Eye Expert Behavioural Optometrists.

Tuesday 21 March 2023

At the British Dyslexia Association we are grateful for the support we receive for our Helpline volunteers. Training opportunities provided by external organisations ensure that we are able to continuously update our skillset and provide the best service to the individuals who contact us.

To ensure we offer the best possible support and signposting, we regularly invite our volunteers to training sessions across range of topics.

In September we were delighted to share our training session with volunteers from many Local Dyslexia Associations who are always on hand to support those with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) across the country.

“We were delighted to listen to a presentation from Behavioural Optometrist Adil Kalooji from Eye Expert Behavioural Optometrists:

Mr Kalooji has a keen interest in Specific Learning Disorders, particularly dyslexia, specialising in visual processing, binocular vision, and visual stress analysis. His talk about how Specific Learning Difficulties and visual difficulties can co-exist and how a behavioural optometrist could advise and support people experiencing issues both with their vision and with visual processing was extremely interesting and informative.

We would like to thank both Mr Kalooji, our BDA volunteers and the LDAs for joining us on this information session. This valuable knowledge allows us to better support those that may need it.”
