Fauzia Jan

Hi, I’m Fauzia – my background is in Education, I have over 25 years of teaching experience in primary schools. I have worked as a primary school teacher, a Reading Recovery teacher and have lead English throughout school.

I currently work as a lecturer in Initial Teacher Training (ITT). My role includes supervising undergraduate and Master’s students and working as a link and professional tutor. I began my Higher Education teaching career in 2015, which consisted mainly of teaching on the Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties module for undergraduate students.

I have also written various online content for the Teach apprenticeship which is a qualification that sits within the apprenticeship framework. Throughout my career, I have undertaken scholarly activity and in 2020 completed and achieved a Distinction in Masters in Additional Learning Needs.

A key purpose of the BDA is to promote research and to disseminate and share best practice. I would love to see this being developed and promoted throughout the country including the North of England. I hope by sharing my knowledge and experiences of teaching in primary schools and Initial Teacher Training, I can add another perspective.
