How Helpline can help for #DAW22

Tuesday 4 October 2022

Throughout its history of 50 years, the British Dyslexia Association has offered free, impartial advice to dyslexic people and to anyone who has a query about or an interest in dyslexia. Today, that is achieved most notably through our National Helpline, but it was 10 years after the formation of the BDA before this formal helpline service was introduced. Now, over half the calls and emails received each month are parents/friends/ grandparents/siblings and even God-parents who are worried about a family member with dyslexia or with signs of dyslexia. These questions and queries are about schooling and education but also about challenges which people face at work and in everyday life. Other callers are individuals who suspect they may have dyslexia and organisations or employers who are keen to support members of the dyslexic community.

Most of our queries are via email or by phone but we also have an active Instagram and Facebook page which allows people to ask questions and receive private responses to their queries.

Our Helpline queries are answered by a team of Helpline volunteers who have a huge range of knowledge and experience which is called upon daily and their willingness to share this and keep up to date with life in the world of the British Dyslexia Association is what allows us to provide this amazing service.

If you need guidance about any aspect of living with dyslexia we have lots of information on our website and on the BDA YouTube channel or you can call or email our Helpline.
