British Dyslexia Association - Workplace Needs Assessor (self-employed opportunity)

The BDA serves as the voice for individuals with dyslexia, striving to influence government and other institutions to create a dyslexia-friendly society where people of all ages can reach their full potential. A key strategic objective for the BDA is to provide and model expert services.

We are currently seeking self-employed Workplace Needs Assessors.
Details of our Workplace Needs Assessments can be found here: Workplace Needs Assessment - British Dyslexia Association

Associate Assessors need to provide evidence of:

  • Completion of the BDA Level 4 - Workplace Assessors Programme
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance.
  • A copy of an anonymised assessment report completed within the last 12 months that is suitable for Access to Work funding application. This must not be a report that has been monitored or marked by a tutor or mentor.
  • Enhanced DBS (within the last 3 years) or details of the update service along with your Date of birth or Access NI Check.

To maintain the highest quality of service for our clients, the BDA requires assessors to submit an application form. Upon approval, references will be requested.

This is a self-employed opportunity.

Payment: Payment is £200 per assessment.
Administration: The BDA manages all administration, such as booking, pre assessment questionnaires and the final report.
Support: The BDA offers associate assessors regular contact sessions, a discount on some conferences and access to one free BDA SASC course per year. *
Support with reports: Assessors will receive regular feedback on their reports, dependent on the number of reports completed.
Work: Our services are subject to the number of requests for assessment that the BDA receive so we cannot guarantee work.

* Assessors are encouraged to undertake a minimum of 12 assessments every year to access approved assessor benefits such as free SASC courses and reduced conference fees.

If you are interested in applying, please send the application form and supporting documents required to  assessments@bdadyslexia.org.uk
