Request a talk or presence at an event

Awareness talk and event FAQ's

What do the talks include?

  • Our talks are designed to raise understanding of dyslexia in a positive and engaging way.
  • For schools (ages 10–11): Sessions include a short quiz, activities that encourage empathy and understanding, and discussions on how to support classmates with dyslexia. These sessions can also help teachers meet curriculum elements related to inclusion, diversity, and personal development. A member of staff must be present with each class.
  • For workplaces and community organisations: Talks focus on creating an inclusive environment for people with dyslexia, offering practical tools to support employees and colleagues, and helping individuals recognise signs of dyslexia in themselves or others. Improved understanding often leads to better communication, confidence, and performance.

What ages do you work with in schools?

We usually work with P6 and P7 in Northern Ireland and Years 5 and 6 in South Wales, but we’re open to discussing talks for other age groups. Please get in touch if you’d like to explore this.

Do you hold stands at events?

Yes, depending on volunteer availability and location of the event, we can provide a stand for an event.

Do you offer talks for teachers?

Possibly — this isn’t our main focus, but we can discuss it, as a few of our volunteers are interested in delivering teacher-focused sessions. Please get in touch to find out more.

How long do the talks last?

Talks typically last up to 45 minutes, plus a little extra time for set-up and pack-down, and time to answer any questions.

Are the talks online or face-to-face?

We mainly promote face-to-face sessions, as these encourage more interaction and engagement. However, some volunteers are happy to deliver online sessions if that suits your setting better.

Which areas do you cover?

  • Northern Ireland: Face-to-face talks are available in the Greater Belfast area. Online talks can be arranged across all of Northern Ireland.
  • South Wales: Face-to-face talks are available in Gwent, Mid Glamorgan, and South Glamorgan. Online sessions are available across all of South Wales

Do you have a minimum or maximum audience size?

  • Online: No set limit.
  • Schools: Usually up to one class per session. A member of staff must be present.
  • Workplaces and community groups: We’re flexible—please let us know your numbers, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
