Terms and Conditions for Award Nominations
- The promoter is: British Dyslexia Association (Charity registered in England and Wales (289243) whose registered office is at 1, Friar Street, Reading, England, RG1 1DA
- Members of the judging panel and their family members or friends shall not be permitted to submit an Awards nomination.
- There is no fee for making a British Dyslexia Awards nomination.
- Closing date for nominations will be midnight on 26th August 2024. Any nominations received after this time will not be submitted for judging.
- The British Dyslexia Association Award Nominations and judging process works as follows:
Stage 1: Nominations must be submitted via the online form before the above closing date.
Stage 2: Shortlisting – All nominations will be compiled for an initial round of shortlisting by the British Dyslexia Association Team.
Stage 3: Final Judging – Winners will be selected from the shortlisted nominees by an external judging panel made up of prominent experts, advocates and specialists in dyslexia. - The judging panel select the winners on their merit, rather than the number of nominations they receive.
- Nominations may be considered in a different category if the judges decide it is appropriate.
- The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- In accordance with current data protection legislation, in order for the British Dyslexia Association to process the personal and sometimes sensitive information contained within an Award nomination, the following consent is required two weeks following the submission of the nomination.
a) For nominees under the age of 16: Consent will be required from their parent or legal guardian.
b) For nominees over the age of 16, but unable to provide consent: Consent will be required from their parent or legal guardian.
c) For nominees over the age of 16 and able to provide consent: Consent will be required from the nominee. - In this instance, the ‘processing’ of information includes:
a) British Dyslexia Association holding information about the nominee and nominator on their digital and manual systems.
b) British Dyslexia Association sharing nomination information with British Dyslexia Association staff and members of the external judging panel for the purposes of judging.
c) Using the information to contact the nominator/nominee or their parents/legal guardians. - All information provided will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation. Further information can be found in our Privacy Policy.
- All winners will be expected to participate in the following Annual Awards activity leading up to, during and after the event. This includes:
a) Attending the Awards ceremony in 2024.
b) Filming and photography of the Annual Awards winners. This could involve a team from the British Dyslexia Association visiting the winner to film interviews and/or gather footage. The footage will be used to create a short film which may be shown on the night of the Awards ceremony, online and/or via social media.
c) All winners will be photographed on the night for publicity purposes. However, if you wish to opt out, please notify the Events Team at the British Dyslexia Association, in writing prior to the event.
d) Regional/national television, newspaper and radio interviews, photography and filming if requested - British Dyslexia Association reserves the right to cancel or amend these terms and conditions. Any changes will be published on the British Dyslexia Association Awards website.
- Submitting a nomination is deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
