Course Description
This SASC-approved training introduces practitioners to the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Third UK Edition (WIAT-III UK) in line with SASC diagnostic assessment and report writing guidance. Designed for professionals who have completed a Level 7 course in assessment with pre-16 and/or post-16 learners, the course explores the full range of WIAT-III UK subtests and their application in the diagnostic assessment of dyslexia. It also highlights the subtests appropriate for use in the identification of dyscalculia.
Through a combination of guidance, practical application, and reference to case scenarios, participants will develop confidence in integrating WIAT-III UK findings into comprehensive assessment reports that meet SASC standards. Access to the WIAT-III UK Test is required for participation.
Course Outcomes
This course provides:
1. An in-depth understanding of the WIAT-III UK structure, content, and scoring procedures.
2. Information on how to identify and administer the appropriate subtests for dyslexia diagnostic assessments across both pre-16 and post-16 learners.
3. Indicates which WIAT-III UK subtests can support dyscalculia diagnostic assessments.
4. Practice in scoring some of the WIAT III subtests.
