About the course 

This Level 7 OCN course is designed to meet the latest JCQ requirements for training exam access arrangements assessors. 

On the programme, you will: 

  • Develop the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to assess learners for examination access arrangements.
  • Gain the competencies required by JCQ to plan and carry out assessments with confidence and precision.
  • Build a clear understanding of the rationale, regulations, and processes underpinning Exam Access Arrangements.

The qualification 

Upon successful completion, you will achieve a Level 7 Certificate OCN qualification, enabling you to conduct access arrangements assessments across Secondary, 6th Form, and Further Education phases. 

 

Entry requirements 
 
In line with JCQ (2024–25) guidance, applicants must hold:  

  • A Level 5 or above teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, PGCE, HLTA, DTLLS), or
  • A specialist teaching qualification such as the BDA Level 5 Certificate in Dyslexia: Literacy, Support and Intervention, or
  • HCPC registration as a psychologist. 

Applicants should be familiar with identifying needs and making recommendations for learners with learning differences.
