Isle of Man students create award winning app

Wednesday 28 June 2023

We were thrilled to receive a message from an exceptional group of A-level students at St. Ninian's High School, who were awarded the prestigious title of 'HSBC Student Company of the Year.' This talented team of students were motivated by their desire to support fellow classmates with dyslexia at their college. As part of their participation in the college's 'Enrichment Programme,' they conceptualised and developed an app that has now reached a global audience.

Known as 'Mindcore,' this exceptional group consists of James Drummond, Hudson Sayle, Matthew Hughes, Aaron Matthews, Dominik Stawny, and Siddharth Muthu Pandian (Photo credit: www.iomtoday.co.im)

Their app, ERA (Enhanced Reading Assistance), offers users a wide range of features, including book scanning, PDF file uploading, customisable font styles and background colours, and numerous other functions.

The team has been chosen to represent the Isle of Man in the upcoming European finals of the HSBC Company Programme, which will take place in Istanbul in July.

We wish them the best of luck in the finals and in their future endeavours to support people with dyslexia.
