Helpline volunteer Adrian takes on the Inflatable 5K challenge for BDA!

Wednesday 29 July 2026

Our fantastic Helpline volunteer, Adrian Halnan, took fundraising to the next level by tackling the Inflatable 5K in support of the BDA – and what a brilliant day it was! The course is packed with 16 giant inflatable obstacles to climb over, crawl through and bounce across on a 2.5K circuit. Adrian completed it twice to conquer the full 5K challenge! He was supported by his wonderful family, who helped cheer him along to the finish line “come on Grandad!”

Adrian chose to fundraise for the BDA because of his own personal experience with dyslexia. Adrian was diagnosed at 19, and has experienced challenges in school and at work. He now volunteers on the Helpline for us and says he knows how much the BDA helps those with dyslexia and dyscalculia.

“The BDA cares for young and old alike, providing resources, guidance and advice to individuals, their relatives and friends, their colleagues, and their workplaces."

Over, under and through, he did it in less than an hour but as he says: “The time wasn’t important, just getting round it was great and quite a lot of fun!”

Not only did he have a lot of fun, he has raised an impressive £570 from family and friends, beating his £500 target! You can watch Adrian’s video and find out more about his fundraising journey by heading to Adrian's JustGiving page. You can also support Adrian and the BDA by making a donation, should you so wish.

If you would like to take part in your own inflatable event, whether that’s with family, friends or solo, you can sign-up on the BDA Run For Charity website. Just search for “inflatable” and find an inflatable event near you – we hope you have just as much fun as Adrian did!

Thank you Adrian for supporting the British Dyslexia Association!
