'HEAR US' Launch of the first ever 'Voice Petition' for Dyslexia Awareness Week
Monday 6 October 2025
This Dyslexia Awareness Week, we've joined forces with Jamie Oliver and a group of well-known faces to launch something completely new:
The UK’s first-ever voice petition.
After his hard-hitting documentary Jamie’s Dyslexia Revolution sparked national debate, the next phase of the Dyslexia Revolution is calling on parents, teachers, young people and supporters everywhere to add their voices and demand urgent change!
The petition, launched exclusively on Spotify
Flipping the traditional format on its head, instead of signing your name, you record a message, because not everyone communicates in the same way. Celebrities including Davina McCall, Kelly Hoppen, Fia Tarrant and Sam Nixon have already joined in!
The message is simple but urgent.
Out of every 100 children, at least 10 are dyslexic. Yet only two are likely to be identified in school. Without early screening, countless children miss out on the support they need, leaving them vulnerable to low confidence, poor self-esteem and anxiety.
The voice petition is calling for two clear changes:
- To spot the signs early by screening children within their first two years at school.
- To support teachers with the training and resources they need to help every child.
As Jamie puts it, “An education system that only works for some kids and not everyone is broken.”
This campaign is designed to keep the pressure on Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson as she prepares her long-promised reforms to the SEND system. The question is, how can those reforms be right if the people living through the system every day haven’t been heard?
Now is the time to speak up. Whether you are a parent, a teacher, or simply someone who believes every child deserves a fair shot at education, you can add your voice and help rewrite the future for children with dyslexia.
The petition is open now for anyone to add their voice. Submissions will be shared directly with the Secretary of State for Education. See below for instructions
