DAW23: A recap

Dyslexia Awareness Week is finished for another year, giving us the opportunity to reflect on everything we shared across the week.
The BDA can proudly say we were overwhelmed with responses from people that were happy to share their dyslexia stories and what makes them 'unique' . We received replies from students, educators, parents, professionals, creatives and entrepreneurs.
Our Ambassadors came out in force to share their enthusiasm for spreading awareness for dyslexia. Ambassador and Podcast Host Ollie Winiberg hosted our first-ever BDA podcast with Krystal Versarce, Drag Race UK winner. The Dyslexic Diaries is out now and available on all major podcast providers.
Other Ambassadors shared their stories through film, inspirational quotes and much more! We also were excited to announce entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den star, Theo Paphitis as the BDA’s Dyslexia Empowerment Champion!
We are grateful our community took such an active role in supporting Dyslexia Awareness Week. Schools across the UK made use of our #UniquelyYou resources and sent in their fantastic creations.
Employees and employers shared their dyslexia journeys in the workplace, while others in our community shared and reposted our content, playing their part in raising awareness.
We hosted four free webinars covering a variety of different subjects, supporting parents, educators and individuals. The webinars are available to view on YouTube.
As a final thought, we just want to thank you for helping to create such a buzz around dyslexia and Dyslexia Awareness Week 2023.
You have helped us highlight that dyslexia affects every individual differently and that every individual has their own challenges and strengths. It is not a ‘one size fits all’ characteristic. Its impact can vary from person to person and each dyslexic individual has a uniquely different story and experience to share. Thanks to everyone that shared their story with us.
