Breaking New Ground: UK’s First Dual Registered Paramedic and Dyslexia Specialist
Saturday 11 October 2025
What a great week to celebrate another UK first! Justin Honey-Jones is the first dual-registered paramedic and specialist dyslexia teacher in the UK. It is an amazing achievement, and this has all run alongside the NHS Trust EAA obtaining the BDA silver award (and on track for Gold) for dyslexia friendly practice in the workplace, and winning the BDA Inclusive Employer award in 2024.
Justin is passionate about the importance of inclusion within the paramedic profession. In his teaching, Justin sees firsthand the importance of a supportive and informed approach to those with dyslexia and other learning difficulties.
Justin shared;
"I am incredibly proud of my profession, and achieving this specialist teacher status equips me to support those dyslexic individuals training to be the paramedics of the future, to harness their strengths and support them in the challenges they may experience. I hope it will inspire others to explore this path and to strive to reach their full potential. Above all our aim is to provide the best care possible by being the best we can, because at the heart of all we do is the people we serve."
