As part of our ongoing commitment to raise awareness of dyslexia and specific learning difficulties, the BDA has a comprehensive training programme. We deliver eLearning, open and bespoke training courses aimed at all levels from a parent who wants to find out more about dyslexia to a dyslexia professional looking to gain a Level 7 accreditation.

This programme is intended to provide a greater understanding of the problems that dyscalculic learners face, and appropriate methods and resources to help support them within the context of their learning environment.

Accredited Level 2 - Practical Solutions for Hidden Difficulties

This programme is intended to provide a greater understanding of dyslexia, along with a range of some of the more commonly diagnosed learning difficulties including: Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD); Attention Deficit and Attention Deficit Hyper Activity (ADD/ADHD); Dyspraxia and Dyscalculia. For each of these SpLDs the possible causes, signs and indicators and possible support strategies are explored.

Dyslang (Dyslexia and Additional Academic Language Learning)

The aim of this eLearning module is to enable teachers and parents to support the multilingual dyslexic individual in learning an additional curriculum language. That is, for example, in the UK a child may have Welsh as their first language, use English in the classroom, but also have to learn French. The materials for this module have been developed as part of a project, funded with support from the European Commission.

Workplace Assessors Programme

In Person training

This 2 day training programme is designed to train workplace assessors. It is run in conjunction with 2 other training days on dyslexia awareness and post 16 screening for dyslexia. There is a post training assessed workbook to complete. Qualified assessors may choose to only attend these 2 days and complete the assessed workbook to become qualifiied as a Workplace Assessor.
