AMBDA FE/HE

A primary concern of the BDA is that the professional help available to dyslexic people of all ages and abilities should be of a consistent high quality. AMBDA FE/HE holders are recognised as a specialist in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs)/Dyslexia, able to conduct specialist diagnostic assessments and deliver specialist teaching programmes to pupils in continuing education and in colleges of further and higher education aged 16 years and over.

The JCQ criteria for a Specialilst Assessor map onto those of  AMBDA. This means that it is a recognised qualification giving holders the right to formally assess and make recommendations for provisions for external examinations (Exam Access Arrangements) and carry out diagnostic assessments. However Student Finance England  require assessors to have an Assessment Practising Certificate for DSA (Disabled Students Allowance) assessments.   When applying for AMBDA FE/HE you will also be eligible to apply for an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) via Route 1 without additional training if applied for within three years of successfully competing an AMBDAFE/HE accredited course

Accredited Courses

The BDA does not run Post Graduate courses but accredits PG Level 7 courses through universities and other Course Providers. Most AMBDA FE/HE courses cover teaching in the first year and assessment in the second year.
