If I have a full diagnostic assessment for dyslexia and my child is found to have dyslexia, what can I expect from the school in terms of support?
Under the Equality Act (2010) schools must provide 'reasonable adjustments' for individuals with a disability. On receiving a diagnosis, or at a later date, it is useful to have a conversation with the school to discuss your child's needs
While the school is not obliged to implement every recommendation from an assessor, we usually find that they are keen to take on board suggestions. Decisions are guided by what is needed for the student, what is reasonable within available resources, and what is in the best interests of all pupils. Parents and carers are encouraged to engage in this process, helping to ensure that their child receives the support they need.
