Become a Helpline Volunteer

Monday 31 January 2022

Every day people contact our helpline in need of help or advice. We offer confidential, impartial advice and information to parents, employees, students, adults with dyslexia, teachers and employers.

We are able to provide this service because of our wonderful helpline volunteers. This year we aim to extend our opening hours and we are therefore calling for volunteers to join our helpline team.

We would love to hear from you, if you have:

  • A good knowledge and understanding of the challenges of living with dyslexia ideally across a range of settings e.g. educational, the workplace and in daily life.
  • An understanding of specific learning difficulties and the co-occurring conditions such as dyscalculia, dyspraxia and ADHD.
  • An understanding of the education systems from Key Stage 1 through to Higher Education and the various statutory examinations (SATS, GCSEs, BTEC).
  • Excellent listening skills and a friendly telephone manner

Please contact volunteer@bdadyslexia.org.uk to find out more and to receive a full role description and application form.

Please help us to support the many callers who contact our helpline in need of guidance and information.
