Professional Membership

Professional Membership

Full Professional Membership (FPM) of the BDA is available to those who hold  AMBDA and/or ATS/APS or a qualification recognised by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC) in the teaching and assessing of people with Specific Learning Difficulties. 

BDA Professional Membership subscriptions are tax deductible as from 6th April 2017 and appear on HMRC's Professional Bodies Approved for Tax Relief (list 3)

 

Professional Membership is a condition of holding an Assessment Practising Certificate APC and/or Teaching Practising Certificate TPC and must be in place for the duration of the certificate, Practising Certificates are invalid if Full Professional Membership lapses.

All Professional Members are expected to adhere to the BDA Code of Ethics and Conduct  and they should be read before applying for rmembership

Professional Membership is £68 per year, paid annually by direct debit.

Affiliate Professional Membership 

Affiliate Professional Membership (APM) of the BDA is available to members of allied SpLD professions such as Educational, Clinical and Chartered Psychologists; Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists who do not hold AMBDA, ATS/APS, APC or their equivalents.Affiliate 

The benefits of Affilliate Professional Membership are

  • Discount on BDA conferences
  • Discount on BDA open training courses         
  • Members' rate for the Dyslexia Journal
  • BDA's Dyslexia Contact magazine, 3 times a year
  • BDA E-newsletter
  • Invitation to BDA Annual General Meeting
  • Invitation to BDA Members Day
  • Consultation on key policy issues (via elected representative)
  • Membership of a Local Dyslexia Association (subject to individual LDA  agreement)

Affiliate Professional Membership is £58 per year, paid annually by direct debit

Student Professional Membership

Student Professional Membership (SPM) of the BDA is for Post-Graduate students registered on a course leading to a specialist qualification approved by the BDA Accreditation Board, in teaching and/or assessing people with Dyslexia/SpLD. This membership is available for a period of 2 years whilst studying on a qualifying SpLD course. Students can upgrade to Full Professional Membership once they have gained their AMBDA, ATS/APS or APC

Student Professional Membership is £25 per year, paid annually by direct debit for the duration of the accredited BDA course.

Overseas Applicants

All Professional Memberships are open to overseas applicants, please add £15 to the cost of the membership you require.
