Why mind mapping is helpful for dyslexic learners: An introduction to mind mapping software

The BDA are delighted to announce a webinar delivered by the team at Mindview. The BDA does not endorse any particular products, however it is always useful to link with experts to find out more about key concepts and what is currently available in the market.

During this engaging webinar we will be using the leading mind mapping software MindView to learn how mind mapping software can help dyslexics in both the academic and professional environments. We’ll explore how to organise ideas in a visual way, customise mind maps, export the mind map to other formats using the Microsoft Integration including Word and PowerPoint, and other useful tricks and tips.

Although learners affected by dyslexia can function at a high level, there are many common struggles students and working professionals must overcome in their daily activities. Dyslexia typically impacts reading, spelling and writing; however dyslexic learners also encounter problems with short term memory, concentration, sequencing and processing information.

Instructional advances have given way to some exciting learning strategies which can be extremely beneficial to students and working professionals living with dyslexia. One strategy in particular is mind mapping. Mind mapping is commonly used for outlining written documents, organizing thoughts, stimulating memory recall and decision making. Although many learners embrace mind mapping using pen and paper, there are several software programs that can make the mind mapping process less cumbersome and more engaging.
