Specialist CPD Training Day: Assessing for Exam Access Arrangements

This one day course is aimed at those new to assessing for Exam Access Arrangements, or for holders of AMBDA or a Level 7 course in specific learning difficulties who want to update their knowledge in assessing for Exam Access Arrangements.

The course will cover how specific learning difficulties impact learners in exams and the ways in which access arrangements can meet individual needs. We will explore using evidence to decide which areas to assess, best practice in selection of suitable tests and the place of screening tools, how to manage the assessment process and how to complete Form 8 Section C. There will be an update of JCQ regulations for 2018/19 and record keeping including GDPR.

Katrina Cochrane

Katrina is one of the UK’s leading experts on dyslexia, and has considerable experience in assessment and training. She is a member of the BDA Accreditation Board and is heavily involved in accrediting a range of professional awards for teaching and assessing children and adults including AMBDA and APC.

Rachael McMullen, Education Manager, BDA

Rachael McMullen has recently joined the BDA following 10 years as the SENCO in a specialist school for pupils with dyslexia. She holds AMBDA and an Assessment Practising Certificate, and is experienced in assessing for exam access arrangements.
