This webinar explores why technology can help children and adults with dyslexia through enabling independence. Abi James will introduce some of the common technologies used in schools and the workplace and discuss the best approaches for selecting apps and tools to ensure they are used effectively.

Presenter - Abi James

Abi James is a researcher and consultant on how technology aids learners with dyslexia, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of nine, Abi has used computers and technology to help her succeed throughout her education and in employment. As chair of the British Dyslexia Association New Technologies Committee, she works with schools and policy-makers to understand how technology can remove barriers to learning and qualifications. Her research work with the ECS Accessibility Team at the University of Southampton explores how approaches to developing and delivering assistive technology and digital accessibility can improve its effectiveness.
