Training will generally be delivered at your premises or at a venue arranged by yourself. The BDA can arrange external venues and you should contact the Training Department for further information. The training will be planned and delivered by a BDA Trainer or Consultant. In general, the session will incorporate theory, practical exercises, workshop activities and discussion groups.
A limit of 20 delegates can attend an interactive training session. The minimum number is 8. However, we recommend discussing the effectiveness of having fewer delegates per session with your Associate Trainer. For speakers/lectures and drop-in sessions, numbers are unlimited.
The BDA Training Department will advise you on a suitable length of time to achieve your objectives. Generally we recommend a half-day (3 hours) or full day (6 hours) to meet your needs, although please contact us if you have other requirements.
You will need to organise:
You can substitute another person onto the course. You will be charged per delegate as registered on the booking form.
The BDA trainer will bring evaluation forms to the event to be completed by your delegates. A summary of the forms will be provided for you. The Training Agency values your feedback to allow us to continue to improve our services.
Following your training session, the BDA Training Department is available to answer any further questions you may have. In addition, for a period of 7 days, your BDA Trainer will be available to follow up on specific issues raised at the training sessions.
Yes, it will. All staff will benefit from this training, as it improves their understanding of dyslexia and the issues surrounding it. As you and your BDA Trainer plan together the Training Course Objectives, you will be starting the process of meeting the needs of the DDA. By acknowledging the diversity of your workforce and how to implement 'reasonable adjustments' where necessary, you will be improving your understanding of the requirements of the DDA.
