Dorothy Gilroy - Dyslexia Tutor, Advisor and Author.

We are saddened to report the death of Dorothy Gilroy. She died on 5 September after a long and courageous fight against cancer. She worked with many at the BDA for several years.

Dorothy began working at the Dyslexia Unit at the University of Bangor in 1977. She was co-author, with Tim Miles, of Dyslexia at College, was well known for her contributions to other dyslexia publications and contributed to the BDA’s Dyslexia Handbook many times. Dorothy was also a member of the Working Party on Dyslexia in Higher Education.

She retired in 2001 but continued to work in the dyslexia field, giving talks at study days, and as an advisor to institutions of FE and HE on dyslexia and ways to help dyslexic students.
