Spot your potential Support the BDA

New Education Director for the BDA.

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Jennifer Owen Adams to the position of Education Director at the BDA.

Jennifer has been with the BDA for nearly two years. Her previous role was as the BDA’s National Officer for Wales where she was responsible for developing and delivering BDA’s agenda for Wales. This she has done through developing constructive partnerships across the public, private and voluntary sectors and with the unfailing support of BDA’s key players in Wales such as the West Wales Dyslexia Association and the Dyslexia Unit at University Wales Bangor.

The launch of BDA Cymru at the National Assembly for Wales and the delivery of a £2m European Social Fund Project to enhance the educational experience of 13-19 year old people with Specific Learning Difficulties are two examples of Jennifer’s work. Another is the National Assembly for Wales’ imminent announcement of the setting up of an External Reference Group for Specific Learning Difficulties in Wales with the remit to advise the Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning.

Jennifer is now keen to take on a more strategic role in the BDA and to build on the work of previous Education Directors. In a statement Jennifer said:

“I am delighted to have been appointed to this very prestigious position. I feel privileged to be able to build on the work of previous Education Directors and will work hard to ensure that the BDA is at the very centre of the education debate.

“As a mother of a dyslexic son and with a professional background in education as a practitioner and manager, I am determined to make a difference. To that end, I am keen to support all BDA members and all our local associations in their quest to shape the education agenda. I plan to travel the country; to meet, listen to and support our members. I invite all of you to contact me to share your thoughts on how we can work together to really press for long lasting change.”
