Right to Read campaign
The Right to Read Alliance campaigns to ensure that everyone can read the "same book, the same time, the same price."
Around 12% of the population are likely to have difficulty reading a book because of dyslexia or visual disability. This can have significant impact for education and learning where students are unable to read text books in an accessible format.
Reading books in a digital format has become commonplace with the advent of ebooks from Kindle, iBooks and other providers. Text reading facilities, text formatting options and other devices currently enable the user to customise accessibility features. However there are problems associated with digital publishing which are still to be resolved which the Right to Read consortium is seeking to address, to enable as wide an access as possible to ebooks.
The British Dyslexia Association is a member of the Right to Read Alliance, along with 20 other organisations.
