Government announces £500,000 scholarship scheme

The Government has announced the creation of a scholarship scheme that will help Teaching Assistants and school staff to train on specialist courses and receive degree-level qualifications.

Each succesful candidate will receive £2000 of funding. Applications will open on 30 April and close on 17 May, with the first scholarships awarded later this year.

Dr Kate Saunders, CEO of the British Dyslexia Association, is pleased that the Government has opened the scheme. "We would encourage people to apply for this scheme, we need more people to understand dyslexia and other learning difficulties to ensure that school children are identified early and recieve the support and assistance they require."

For more information on the scheme, please go to the Department for Education's website.
