Time-line for Consultation & Decision Making Processes

April 2010 – April 2011

April 2010

  • Paper ‘E’ was sent to BDA LDAs as part of the package of documents sent with a covering letter headed “LDA Annual Membership”. The paper stated “Proposals for financial arrangements for 2011/12 will be developed by a sub group of BDA Local Associations Board (BDA LAB) and BDA Management Board (BDA MB) in time to be discussed fully at the 2010 BDA AGM.”

May 2010

  • The BDA Membership Group is working on the follow-up papers, the proposals and a consultation timetable. These will be sent to BDA LDAs during May (BDA LAB and the BDA MB will be consulted before these papers go out).
  • A letter or email will be sent to all BDA Individual Members (BDA IMs) and BDA Organisation Members (BDA OMs) about the proposal and how it affects them.

June 2010

  • BDA LDAs are asked to discuss the proposals.

July 2010

  • In July, an Open Consultation Meeting will be held in Birmingham (location subject to confirmation). All BDA Members, including those who cannot attend, will be invited to put forward their views in writing. All BDA Members will be invited to this meeting.

August 2010

  • Proposals revised taking account of the views expressed and the outcomes of the Open Consultation meeting in July. These proposals will be discussed by BDA MB and BDA LAB. End of August revised proposal sent to BDA LDAs and BDA Members.

September 2010

  • Early September a second Open Consultation Meeting held in London (location subject to confirmation). All BDA Members, including those who cannot attend, will be invited to put forward their views in writing. All BDA Members will be invited to this meeting.

  • A revision will take account of the views expressed and a final set of proposals will be made available to all BDA Members when the BDA AGM nomination papers go out.

November 2010

  • Proposal accepted/not accepted by BDA AGM 20 November 2010.

March 2011

  • 31 March 2011 is the date by which all BDA LDAs should have informed the BDA Office whether they wish to be part of BDA and work within the framework approved by BDA Members at the BDA AGM in November 2010.
