Attendance on 21 November.

Although each Local Dyslexia Association (LDA), Dyslexia Support Group, (who are currently moving to become LDAs) and Organisational Member (OM) is entitled to appoint a single delegate to attend and vote at the AGM, the members meeting itself is an open meeting. We look forward to welcoming more than just individual members and the voting delegate or nominee from LDAs, DSGs and OMs for the whole day. Please bring along others from your groups and organisations; just let us know by Monday 16 November who is coming, by completing the appropriate section on the attendance forms available to download below.

Attendance Forms

Please fill out the appropriate attendance form if you would like to come to the AGM on the 21st November.

Attendance Form for Local Associations and Dyslexia Support Groups

Attendance Form for Independent Members

Attendance Form for Honorary Members

A delegate appointed by any of the above membership groups may appoint a proxy if they are unable to attend the meeting. They cannot then vote at the meeting themselves unless they have revoked the proxy before the meeting. Please complete this form if you would like to appoint a proxy.

Trustee Elections

Nominations for the two Trustee vacancies in the Local Association Board (LAB) category have been received from Denise Taylor (Chair of South Bedfordshire Dyslexia Association) and Jeff Hughes (Chair of the LAB and St Helens and District Dyslexia Association). Denise and Jeff will be nominated for formal election at the AGM.

A nomination for one Trustee vacancy in the Individual Members category has been received from Dr Nicola Brunswick. Nicola stood down from the Management Board having served her first term and she is entitled to stand again. Dr Nicola Brunswick will be nominated for formal election at the AGM.

We look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday 21 November. Please do return your completed attendance forms by Monday 16 November and remember to bring your own lunch on 21 November. Tea and coffee will be available.

  • We are asking for a small donation towards the cost of breakfast.

Louis Barnett

The BDA has secured an exciting opportunity for its Local Dyslexia Associations (LDAs) and itself, working alongside BDA ambassador, Louis Barnett and his company ‘Chokolit’. Details of how LDAs can purchase bars of ‘Chokolit’ at cost price can be found on the order form here.

In December 2006, the BDA Management Board agreed that the following details will be added to the BDA website during the summer:

  • details of AGM/Council meetings,
  • dates and the procedure for nominations for trustee vacancies,
  • dates for the submission of council resolutions,
  • the deadline for the previous two items.

Written notice will not normally be given individually at that time but members may request a hard copy from the BDA office.

A full paper notice will be given to all known Individual Members, Local Associations and Organisational Members in the month prior to the date of the meeting.
