DysFest
2-6 November 2009
DysFest invites you to attend the first dyslexia awareness week film festival, which explores the representation and understanding of dyslexia looking at films, technology and art.
It will be held from the 2-6 November ’09 at the University College of London.
The festival will screen three feature films on dyslexia, followed by discussions led by speakers with personal and professional experience in the field of dyslexia.
The last two days will feature two workshops. The technology workshop aim to create a space to pass on practical tips to teachers and students to improve everyday learning situations within the framework of a positive task oriented approach. The last workshop will see guests take will take us trough a journey in the world of representation of dyslexia in the arts.

Indigo Centre Welcomes Local Mayor
The Indigo Dyslexia Centre in Norwich was visited by its Lord Mayor of the city Councillor Evelyn Collishaw on the 2nd November.
The Indigo Centre updated the Mayor on their brand new course - Learning more about Dyslexia & how to help others. The course is accredited by the NOCN at level 1 which is completely optional.
This course is open to anyone who feels that may benefit from learning more about dyslexia.

Brainwaves Education Open Day
Friday 6th November 2009, 10am – 5pm.
To support Dyslexia Awareness Week, Brainwaves Education are running an open day for parents and school staff to visit their dyslexia and literacy support centre.
You are welcome to just drop-in, you do not need to call beforehand
During the day parents will also have the opportunity to receive free advice about their child and try out computer software and CD Roms.
For class teachers, SENCOs and LSAs it is an opportunity to see what the Centre can offer and how it can work with local schools. It will also be possible to view a wide range of assessment tools and resources suitable for students with dyslexia and related specific learning difficulties.
LexAble
LexAble is launching Global AutoCorrect during Dyslexia Awareness Week 2009. This new computer software is designed for people with dyslexia, to enable the user's ideas to flow and help improve spelling.
