There are currently 80 Local Dyslexia Associations around England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These are independently registered charities, normally run by volunteers that provide support and services to their members. Local Associations were the original members of the BDA. They remain an important link across the country for those affected by dyslexia, giving vital local knowledge. Click here to find your nearest Local Association.

A local association is required to meet certain entry criteria, one requirement of which is that it must run its own Helpline. Local Dyslexia Associations offer a variety of services to their local community and to their members. These services may include:

If you would like to find out more about becoming a member of your Local Dyslexia Association, or if you would like to contact them for help and support, view a list of Local Dyslexia Associations.

If your group would like to become a member of the BDA but does not meet the criteria to become a Local Association, why not think about joining as a Support Group.

If you are an individual you could also consider becoming an Individual Member of the BDA.

If you are already a member of your Local Dyslexia Association, you may be interested in becoming a Dual Member of the BDA at no extra cost.
