Manager of the Adult Dyslexia Centre (Thames Valley)

Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the reorganisation of an established local charity, in Maidenhead, Berkshire, that has proved its worth over 15 years. Our new vision is to strengthen and refresh our services to dyslexic adults. We are looking for an enthusiastic dyslexia specialist (OCR Level 7 or equivalent) to manage the delivery of the courses and other specialist services related to dyslexia offered by the Centre. The applicant needs to have a working knowledge of IT systems, be willing and/or experienced working face-to-face with adults and have an understanding of how dyslexia affects this age group. The role will also include delivering Information, Advice and Guidance sessions; dyslexia screening; dyslexia awareness training; proofreading assessments and overseeing the delivery of our Literacy/IT, parents and teachers’ courses.

The Centre has a team of self-employed assessors and tutors, some of whom also work as volunteers. The Manager would also need to be self-employed and is answerable to the charity’s Board of Trustees whose meetings s/he is required to attend.
