The Dyslexia-SpLD Trust works to help teachers and others to better support children and young people with Dyslexia-SpLD and to promote improved understanding and awareness of the issue. The Trust is a collaborative coalition of voluntary and community organisations, professional bodies and representatives of mainstream education who will work together to improve services for children and young people with Dyslexia-SpLD.
The Trust is supported by the DoE who is the main funder. The Trust is taking forward a programme of work determined by the Programme Board of the Trust comprising Patoss, the BDA, Dyslexia Action, Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre, Xtraordinary People and Springboard for Children.
It has now been confirmed that we have funding for the staff positions and projects up to 31 March 2011. We are, therefore, advertising for the following positions:
P/T Co-Director (Operations) of the Trust
Home Based, 0.7 FTE
Salary : £25,565 (0.7 post for 7 months, from FTE of £62,000)
Fixed term from 1 September 2010 to 31 March 2011
Reporting to the Chair of the Trust, this is a key role for ensuring that children with specific learning difficulties receive an appropriate education in future. You will work with the Co-Director (Strategy), which is a 0.3 post, and the Project Manager to ensure that the Trust’s activities are implemented, supervised and evaluated. The role also looks to the future and includes development of plans to deliver the Trust’s strategy and objectives. This will involve working with the Project Manager on fund raising, tender and grant applications for future projects.
The person appointed will have expert knowledge on Specific Learning Difficulties, for example, through AMBDA status; management knowledge and experience; and excellent communication skills.

Project Manager - Dyslexia-SpLD Trust
Based: Bracknell
Salary: £19,833 (full time for 7 months pro rata to salary of £34k)
Fixed term from 1 September 2010 to 31 March 2011
Reporting to the Co –Director (Operations), the Project Manager will take overall responsibility for the project management of the Trust. It is a pivotal role, coordinating all areas of the Trust’s current projects which include developing a competency framework for specialist teachers, extending the provision of training for classroom teachers etc. Specific duties will include running the Trust office, budgetary control, further development of the Trust website and stakeholder development.
The person appointed will have significant project management experience, excellent organisational skills, and be able to event manage, communicate with external stakeholders and the press. The ability to juggle priorities is paramount.

Trust Administrator
Based: Bracknell 0.5 post (17.5 hours per week)
Salary: £6552 (0.5 post for 7 months from FTE of £22,464)
Fixed term from 1 September 2010 to 31 March 2011
This half time post reports to the Project Manager. The person appointed will provide administrative support to the Dyslexia SpLD Trust team. There is a particular focus on data collection and management, professional handling of enquires via telephone and email and general administrative support to the Trust team.
The person appointed will have attention to detail skills. They will be familiar with Excel, Access and Word, have accurate data entry ability and be familiar with operating databases. A good telephone manner is essential.

Lecturer/Teaching Fellow in Dyslexia Studies and Speech and Language Difficulties (30434)
University of Birmingham
Salary: £36,715 to £49,342
The appointee will be expected to take up responsibility for or contribute to existing courses in Dyslexia Studies and Speech and Language Difficulties, as well as to develop new programmes as appropriate and contribute to other areas of teaching and to research, according to the appointee’s interest and experience.
Candidates must have appropriate higher degrees, preferably to doctoral level and be an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA). Candidates will be expected to have appropriate research and teaching experience for the grade.

Primary and Secondary Teachers for Numeracy and Literacy Support Classes
Salary: £35 per hour Monday evenings term time only to start September 2010

Waltham Forest Dyslexia Association (WFDA) seeks:
Maths teachers with some experience of working with children with special needs. The ideal candidates will be Unicorn trained but this is not essential. A willingness to do such training (with the support of WFDA) is essential, as is a creative and enthusiastic approach.
Qualified dyslexia tutors to teach literacy classes.
Teachers undertaking dyslexia training - volunteer opportunities are available that could lead to paid work with WFDA.
