Children Will Shine Project
The British Dyslexia Association (BDA) is running an exciting project called Children Will Shine (CWS). It’s a project that offers after school support for dyslexic children in London and Manchester. CWS will offer specialist teaching for these children, supporting the areas of literacy, numeracy, personal organization and self esteem, as well as giving advice on how to maximize their dyslexic strengths.
The CWS project is working with teaching assistant (TAs) specialist teachers, and parents, to set up local groups in order to support dyslexics within their geographic area.
The BDA has supported this project by offering free training places on existing courses, to TAs and parents, to enable them to assist with teaching within the CWS workshops, as well as schools and colleges across the areas of Manchester and London. Therefore over the next five years, this project aims to assist about 45,000 dyslexic children over the country.
As a project run by the BDA, its vision is for a dyslexic friendly society where all dyslexics reach their potential. If you would like to get involved, or request a place for your child on this project, please complete the form below.
One of the aims of CWS is to offer the after school workshops at a cost effective price. Currently private tuition costs between £35-70 per hour. CWS will charge an annual membership fee of £15, and between £10-15 per 1-1 ½ hr session.
