Emailing Discussion Forums

There are many e-mail discussion forums relevant for dyslexia. Some are for professionals in special needs areas. Non-professionals may join them and observe, but are not expected to participate. Archives of some lists are available to everyone. Others are for members only.

BECTA

British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (BECTA) manages lists for school-age interest areas, including special needs.

One BECTA forum of particular interest is senco-forum, which is for professionals concerned with school-age and FE special educational needs.

Other forums of interest include EAL-bilingual, MFL-SEN, EBD-Forum, High-ability, SENIT (ICT for SEN), Speech Recognition, and Dyslexia Wales.

JISCmail

JISCmail is the National Academic Mailing List Service.

It has many lists for all areas of higher education including:

  • Dis-forum. For the discussion of disability support administration issues in higher education.

  • SpLD forum. Discussion forum for SpLD Professionals and Researchers.

  • dyslexia forum This started off as a forum for students doing dyslexia research. However, it has become a self-help information discussion group for parents, dyslexics and others.
