The BDA AGM and Annual Council will be held on Saturday 15 November 2008
A message from Judi Stewart, Chief Executive: including details of the 2008 AGM. All of the necessary documents are available at the foot of this message for you to download.
To All B.D.A. Members,
Autumn Forum and A.G.M.
It gives me great pleasure to give you advance notice of the B.D.A Autumn Forum and Annual General Meeting to be held on Saturday 15 November 2008 at the Abbey School, 17 Kendrick Road, Reading RG1 5DZ, at the provisional time of 10am to 4.30pm. Guest speakers this year include Dr Joel Talcott from Aston University, who will chair the next BDA International Conference Committee and Professor Peter Pumfrey, BDA Vice President. (The BDA would like to apologise for the previous spelling error of Professor Peter Pumfrey's name). The full programme for the day and agenda for the A.G.M. will be posted on the website and sent to members in mid October.
Resolutions Notice.
Members may propose resolutions for inclusion in the AGM agenda. They must be in writing and include the name, signature and contact details of the proposer. They should be sent by post, marked for the attention of the Company Secretary to be received at the B.D.A office no later than 12 noon on Monday 6th October 2008.
Trustee Elections.
Elections are taking place among the B.D.A membership to elect new trustees to represent Organisational Members and Individual Members. If you are a member in one of these two categories, you will find details enclosed inviting nominations.
Local Association Board Elections.
Elections are also taking place for representation on the Local Association Board (L.A.B). Mail recipients in our Local Associations and Support Groups will find details about this and a letter from Jack Haymer, Chair of the L.A.B, inviting nominations. We do very much hope that some of our newer members will consider getting more involved alongside some of the long standing members to support and promote the B.D.A in the regions.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you all of our exciting plans for fundraising in November around the theme, Wake up 2 Dyslexia. We have a lovely new logo, designed by Leicestershire Dyslexia Association member, Arran Smith, to promote this and we do hope as many of you as possible will be able to host a breakfast for the B.D.A.
Dyslexia Awareness Week (3rd to 9th November) is fast approaching; the theme this year is Accessible Formats. We are striving to ensure our own materials are in an accessible format for text readers. You may have noticed the full stops after headings and between initial letters in this correspondence which you would not normally find in written text but as this text is also to be read from computers and the web we need to adhere to this style. Full details will be found in our revised style guide to be launched in Awareness week.
With every good wish.
Judi Stewart
CEO and Company Secretary
